Lacuna Coil To Join Apocalyptica on Spring 2020 Cell-0 Tour Dates

Heavy metal band Lacuna Coil will be joining the cello-based band Apocalyptica next spring as part of the Cell-0 tour dates across North America. This tour will begin at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida on May 3rd and will finish up at Big Night Live in Boston, Massachusetts on May 26th.

Apocalyptica formed in Helsinki, Finland in 1993 as a neo-classical Metallica tribute band, before performing their own songs in a neo-classical metal style. This group is composed of classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso (all three of whom are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki),drummer Mikko Sirén, and American vocalist Franky Perez.

Lacuna Coil formed in Milan back in 1994, and are noted for their alternative and gothic metal styles, featuring dual male and female vocals and pounding guitar chords. The band has also displayed some more melodic leanings on their recent tracks such as “Save Me,” although they avoid being labelled as a melodic metal group. Their most recent album release, Black Anima, debuted earlier this year.

“Overall, Black Anima is another step up for Lacuna Coil. Arguably one of their best albums, the Italian goth metal band utilizes their experience of harmonizing vocals and making the contrast work and has elevated their instrumentation to match,” mxdwn reviewer Erin Winnans explained. “This album is definitely not the end of the road for this band and fans should highly anticipate what will come next.”
