Throughout history there has been a conflict between Los Angeles and New York. We’ve spent much of the past century arguing over who has the better food (LA) better entertainment scene (LA) better sports teams (mostly LA) and better rappers (still LA) but we’ve never really settled the debate between who makes the best music. Luckily, it seems we don’t have to anymore, with the shrinking of the world through technology increasing at an ever more rapid pace, New York and LA are starting to see what they have in common rather than what sets them apart.
Because of this newfound alliance LA and New York are becoming more appreciative of what each city has to offer. In this ongoing cultural exchange, LA has recently been gifted DIIV an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York City.
DIIV, hot off the release of their latest record Deceiver, has set forth touring the United States in support of their latest, highly anticipated release. The band itself rose to prominence almost immediately out of the gates with their now classic debut album Oshin.
DIIV’s dream pop sound has seen them tour with a variety of performers, ranging from Beach Fossils to Deafheaven, solidifying their place as an excellent people pleaser of a band with enough bite to keep things interesting.
Any fans of DIIV should check out their upcoming show at the Lodge Room, a delightful mid-sized venue with a great ear for good bands and an even better ear for in-room sound design. Don’t forget to swing by Triple Beam Pizza on the way in – it might even rival the best stuff in New York.
