Mew has announced a new batch of 2020 North American tour dates playing their 2005 album And the Glass Handed Kites in full. According to the Brooklyn Vegan, the mini U.S. tour will kick off May 23 in Washington D.C. and will include stops in New York, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA. Tickets for the tour are set to go on sale Friday, November 22nd at noon local time. See the full list of tour dates below. The band was also recently announced to play the NorthSide Festival in Denmark in June, alongside Green Day, Robyn, and Weezer.
And the Glass Handed Kites is the band’s fourth studio album and was released in 2005 in Europe, and 2006 in the U.S. It spawned the four singles “Apocalypso,” “Special,” “Why Are You Looking Grave” and “The Zookeepers Boy,” the album’s most well-noted song. The album received much critical acclaim from critics, with Pitchfork describing it as “a terrific accomplishment” along with “The Zookeepers Boy” listed in their Top 100 tracks of 2006. The album featured 10 additional tracks and landed them “Best Danish Act” at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2005 along with four Danish Music Awards the same year.
Mew was formed in 1995 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The band consists of Jonas Bjerre, Johan Wohlert, Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen. Since their debut album Triumph for Man in 1997, they went on to make six more, with their last being 2017’s Visuals and first since the departure of their former guitarist Bo Madsen.
