Eddie Van Halen Released From the Hospital After Severe Reaction to Cancer Drugs

Lead guitarist/founder of American hard rock band Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen, is back from the hospital after a throat cancer treatment, Blabbermouth reports. After a brief stay, Halen checked out of a hospital in Beverley Hills, California on Sunday.

Halen admitted his illness of intestinal issues and abdominal pain last week. A workup on him showcased the condition was caused by a severe reaction to cancer treatment. According to TMZ, to battle with throat cancer, Halen has been traveling back and forth between the U.S and Germany for radiation treatment. The 64-year-old legend believes his cancer resulted from a bad habit he developed more than 20 years ago – he got used to holding the metal guitar picks of brass and copper in his mouth which he believes is the source of his throat cancer.

Aa a source pointed out, Halen was photographed at a spinal neurosurgeon’s office in Beverly Hills last month. It’s not the first time that fans worry about Halen’s health condition. In August 2012, he underwent emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis. The emergent situation pushed back their 2012 Japanese tour to 2013. Halen also had survived from avascular necrosis and oropharyngeal cancer, which was eventually cleared but left him with a prosthetic metal hip and half of his tongue.

No official statement was announced that it is the health condition of Halen that has slowed down the hard rock band Van Halen’s tour, the rockers haven’t been on the road since 2015. A Van Halen reunion plan was scheduled this year, but it, unfortunately, fell through for multiple reasons.
