Lana Del Rey recently brought out Lucy Dacus and Best Coast to perform “Night Shift” with Dacus and “When I’m With You” alongside Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast. This performance took place at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago during Lana Del Rey’s tour stop in the city last night.
The performance of “Night Shift,” was assisted by a backing band, as both artists traded their verses on the song with their signature vocals.
Th performance of “When I’m With You,” held powerful vocal performances from Consentino and Lana Del Rey, who delivered each of their parts with passion.
The singer-songwriter has been performing covers throughout her tour, and in the studio during the past few months. She performed a cover of Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Follow You Into The Dark,” with the band’s frontman Ben Gibbard during a show in Denver, Joni Mitchell’s “For Free,” during a performance in Seattle, and a performance of that same song in the studio alongside Weyes Blood and Zella Day. This track originally appeared on Mitchell’s 1970 album release Ladies Of The Canyon, while “I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” was featured on Death Cab for Cutie’s 2005 album Plans.
Further covers were performed in Berkeley, California where the performer covered Bob Dylan’s classic “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” alongside 1960s folk legend Joan Baez. Earlier in the year she also performed alongside Leonard Cohen’s son Adam Cohen, to cover his father’s classic “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” at Jones Beach Theater.
