The Denmark-based NorthSide Festival has announced its 2020 lineup, featuring pop punk outfit Green Day, Danish alternative rock band Mew and Swedish pop performer Robyn, who will perform in Aarhus, Denmark from June 4-6. Other prominent performers who will join this year’s festival include Lukas Graham, Weezer, Franc Moody, and Spleen United.
Last year’s festival saw appearances from Björk, Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Bon Iver, The Streets, Cautious Clay, A Perfect Circle, and Major Lazer. In addition to the music performances across three days, it hosts a special emphasis on sustainability and innovation, featuring numerous side exhibits promoting these themes.
Green Day recently performed their 1994 classic album Dookie, in its entirety during a show in Madrid. This marked the first time since 2014 that the band performed the song “Chump,” and the first since 2013 that they’ve performed the tracks “Pulling Teeth,” “Sassafras Roots,” “Emenius Sleepus,” “In The End,” and “All By Myself.”
Robyn released Honey back in November of 2018, after an eight year hiatus from recording music. The performer hosted a limited run of fall US tour dates, along with prominent festival appearances at the Pitchfork Music Festival, and the Austin City Limits Festival. She has also held shows at the Hollywood Palladium, and at the Barclays Center.
“Honey is a welcome return for a transcendent diva of dance pop,” mxdwn reviewer Chloe Jordan explained. “Hopefully, we don’t have to wait another eight years to hear from Robyn, but luckily her songs from all albums have the staying power to hold us over.”
UPDATE (1/31): NorthSide has added more artists to its 2020 lineup. These additions include Kim Gordon, Johnny Marr, Little Simz, Massive Attack and White Lies. See below for the updated flyer.
