California surf pop duo Best Coast have announced a new album entitled Always Tomorrow, which is set to be released some time in 2020. While the album does not have a tracklist or cover art at this time, this announcement follows a 2020 tour announcement, along with a new single entitled “For The First Time.”
“For The First Time,” is an upbeat and catchy indie pop tune, filled with harmonic chords, an uptempo drum beat and optimistic lyrics. The music video for this latest track shows the duo performing in an empty house, having misadventures at a mall and at a house party.
Lyrically this latest song recalls some of the hardships the band’s lead singer Bethany Cosentino had faced. The lyrics:”Friday nights I don’t spend too much time on the bathroom floor, like I used to,” recall some of the performer’s past issues, which she has since overcome.
Last year during her year-end list on social media Consentino discussed being one year sober during 2018, which she stated was her biggest milestone for the year above falling in love and strengthening friendships. She also followed up this list with the announcement that the band was recording a new album this year.
Earlier this year it was announced that the band was set to be the house band on Fred Savage’s new show What Just Happened ??! which is a new parody series. What Just Happened ??! will break down events in a fake drama series called “The Flare,” which is based on a fake book series from Savage’s childhood.
