The Mad Cool Festival has announced its 2020 lineup featuring high profile performers such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Pixies, Alt-J, Tove Lo, and Twenty One Pilots. While only these six names have been announced so far, more performers will join the lineup within the coming months, however the festival is scheduled to take place from July 8th-11th, 2020 at Espacio Mad Cool in Madrid, Spain.
Last year’s lineup featured an all-star cast including The Cure, The National, Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, The Smashing Pumpkins, The 1975, The Hives, Tash Sultana, Mogwai, Kaytranada, Jon Hopkins, Wolfmother, Teenage Fanclub, Bonobo, Jorja Smith, and The Twilight Sad. Past performers have included Depeche Mode, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys and Nine Inch Nails.
Swift is currently planning on re-recording her back catalog as a result of a recent deal falling through with Scooter Braun, who owns the rights to her early works. Braun purchased the rights to these recordings for around $300 million.
“For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future” Swift wrote regarding the incident.
Eilish is going to embark on her Where Do We Go? tour next year. The Pixies are currently embarking on their Close Up and Personal winter tour dates.
