Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders released their third pre-release single “Middle Child” from the upcoming album Get The Money. The group previously unleashed the album’s title track “Get The Money” and “Crossed The Line” featuring Chrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh and Duff McKagan. The new album will be released on November 8 via Shanabelle/RCA Records.
Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders is a music project formed by Taylor Hawkins, who is known as the drummer for the Foo Fighters. The group currently consists of lead vocalist/drummer Hawkins, bassist Chris Chaney, guitarist/support vocals Brent Woods and producer/engineer John Lousteau.
Featuring Dave Grohl – the drummer for Nirvana as well as the leader of Foo Fighters – “Middle Child” is a heavy-glammed cut that brightens memory back to a nostalgic rock and roll age. In this track, Grohl and Woods present distorted guitar riffs that fish-hook the listener to the tune, Chaney supports with his appealing basslines that create deep rhythmic motion and Hawkins adds striking drums that resound a throbbing pulse. The combination lifts the song’s status into a stunning territory.
“My little twin I am here with you/Stay close and we will make it through/How I love you middle child/I see angels when you smile,” the rocker Hawkins reveals a soft and genuine emotion behind the chorus, “When I look into your eyes/I could stay forever with you while the day turns into night as we drift slowly to the sky.” Check out the music video of “Middle Child” below
The group released their debut self-titled album Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders in 2006 and their second album Red Light Fever in 2010. After that, Hawkins released a six-track solo EP KOTA in 2016. Get The Money will be Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders’ first project in 9 years.
