Maren Morris and Hozier Share Music Video for Their Pop Duet “The Bones”

Two of the youngest and most celebrated artists in their respective genres, Maren Morris and Hozier, have premiered the music video for their duet version of “The Bones.” The track “The Bones” from country/pop singer and songwriter Maren Morris‘ LP GIRL recently rendered rendition featuring guest vocals provided by Irish musician/singer and songwriter Hozier, more versed in his indie-rock/blues influences. According to a press release, the visual was shot as “… a hyper-lapse video, the visual follows the creation of a life-size illustration of Hozier and Maren by Nashville-based artist Sydney Clawson.”

The hyper stylized visual for the duet version of “The Bones” opens up on a brightly lit room where a blank canvas awaits its artist to unveil the striking artwork featuring the aforementioned artists. Clawson takes pristine steps to ensure the brushstrokes reveal the musical artists figures starting to take form. There is minute shading that details the facial linings of the artists being put on display. As the video progresses we get more and more detail on canvas and the music tells a story that beautifully paints the literal picture being showcased.

Morris has had quite a fruitful year releasing her sophomore studio album GIRL back in March, as well as becoming a part of the country female supergroup, The Highwomen, also celebrating a self-titled studio album release last month. On top of that, she is expecting her first child with her musician husband Ryan Hurd, early next year. As previously stated in the press release, just recently “…Morris concluded her GIRL: The World Tour in support of her record-setting, critically-acclaimed LP GIRL, which includes the original version of ‘The Bones.’ Morris co-wrote the Gold-certified hit – which has amassed more than 126 million on-demand streams – with Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz. Morris is currently nominated for six CMA Awards, the most of any artist this year, including Female Vocalist of the Year, as well as Album of the Year (GIRL), Single, Song, and Music Video of the Year (“Girl”), and Musical Event of the Year (“All My Favorite People” featuring Brothers Osborne).”

Hozier also is no stranger to the limelight as of late. As of this year, the long-awaited follow up to his 2014 record breaking self- titled debut album was released, via Rubyworks/Island Records, Wasteland, Baby! back in March. The press release concluded that Hozier “…spent much of 2019 touring in support of his critically-acclaimed sophomore album Wasteland, Baby!, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200. With over 400,000 tickets sold since September 2018, he is currently back in the U.S. for the third leg of his sold-out North American Wasteland, Baby! Tour. This run of shows includes a performance at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre on Friday, October 25 and concludes with a five night residency at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom in November.”

According to Rolling Stone, Morris shared her appreciation to have Hozier included on the latest version for her single “The Bones” saying “I feel so grateful to have him on it.” She also added:

“When I first heard ‘Like Real People Do’ I think I could actually hear my heart breaking and then immediately felt songwriter envy that I didn’t write it first. Hozier’s soul and vulnerability is so arresting and fit so well with the foundational theme of my song ‘The Bones,’” Morris said in a statement.”

Hozier returned the sentiment saying “Something of love’s enduring nature really comes through on ‘The Bones,’ it’s a gorgeous song,” Hozier added. “I was delighted to be asked to sing with the Maren Morris on this track — she is such a wonderful artist.”
