Northern Irish producer and DJ Kristian Nairn aka Hodor from HBO’s Game of Thrones just released a new song, “Evolve” which is an electronic track. The song breaks out with various rhythms and beats, along with the synthesizer that creates momentum. The track seems to be building up higher and higher yet midway through slows down and takes a different form altogether. Nairn has been a well-established house producer and DJ in the United Kingdom long before he was tending to the stables of the House Stark on HBO’s acclaimed Game of Thrones.
Nairn has been releasing music for years, but this is first release with label, Enhanced Progressive. The dance track is described, “Powerful drums, vibrant melodies and an uplifting chord progression make ‘Evolve’ a whopper of a first release from Nairn and also, ‘Evolve’ is a rapturous piece of progressive trance out now on Enhanced Progressive. Built on a base of stabby chords that are later joined by sparkling arpeggiated synths, the euphoric song builds gracefully into a fully-formed shape across its 3 and a half minutes.” Nairn has released four tracks this year, with two having topped the Beatport charts in their respective categories and his decorated discography includes collaborations with Ferry Corsten and Alex Graham, as well as remixes of Freemasons and Madison Avenue.
Nairn’s portrayal of ‘Hodor’ on Game of Thrones was his first acting role. He used to be the resident DJ of Kremlin, a gay club in Belfast. Since Game of Thrones began, Nairn has toured as DJ with “Rave of Thrones”. He was the DJ during the BlizzCon 2016 anniversary party and BlizzCon 2018 closing festivities. He’s also played backstage with Megadeth during the Hellfest Open Air Festival in Clisson, France.
In March 2014, Nairn publicly discussed his gay identity in an interview with a Game of Thrones fan site. He stated: “When you talk about ‘the gay community,’ you are talking about MY community… I AM aware of it yeah, and I think it’s really lovely. Again, it’s a privilege, and I really mean that.” He went on to say that his sexuality is “a very small part of who I am on the whole, but nonetheless, in this day and age, it’s important to stand up and be counted.”
