100% Electronicon 2

One of the most joyous parts of being young is stanning for music that completely confounds anyone over the age of 30. Every generation has a genre that is completely incomprehensible to someone who is not “part of the culture” in the past this has included metal, parts of alternative rock, and more, but right now being “part of the culture” means being extremely online, and no genre is more online than vaporwave.

Vaporwave is a genre that was born and grew up around computers. It’s a deeply self referential genre that often leans on the sounds pioneered by dial up modems and ‘90s era Windows Operating Systems. Despite holding its roots in the sphere of music, it is perhaps best known as a visual aesthetic that blends elements of Outrun, Lisa Frank, Cyberpunk, and Miami Vice to make a gleaming candy atmosphere.

The sound and style blend together wonderfully in a relaxing rainbow rush. Each vaporwave relies on a calm wash of synth to transport its listeners to another realm. It would stand to reason that a vaporwave concert might do the same.

This is where things take a turn for the strange, because of the forceful visual style of Vaporwave, and its incredibly online nature, Vaporwave shows are a veritable symphony of strange. 100% Electronicon 2 is intent on bringing this symphony to a bigger stage.

100% Electronicon 2 boasts a lineup of Vaporwave and PC Music artists, including Slayyyter, Saint Pepsi (aka Skylar Spence) and George Clanton. It’s a gathering of the worlds most introverted artists in a setting that they rarely play, live, and it shouldn’t be missed.
