Major Lazer and Khalid have released their new song “Trigger,” from the Death Stranding: Timefall soundtrack, which is set to be released on November 7 via RCA Records. Other prominent acts featured on this soundtrack include Alan Walker, Bring Me The Horizon, The Neighbourhood and Chvrches, who released the title track “Death Stranding.”
“Trigger,” takes a more pop and R&B styled approach, with a strong vocal performance from Khalid, which is backed by a calm electro-pop instrumental. This style is a bit more in line with Major Lazer’s softer pop tracks, using some elements of trap and EDM, rather than dancehall influences.
Death Stranding is an upcoming videogame for the PlayStation 4, which was developed by Hideo Kojima, who is best known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series. The developer is known for his eclectic plot lines that are inspired by action films from the 1980s, a unique sense of humor and challenging gameplay mechanics, such as the inclusion of a “very easy mode,” for “movie fans,” which will be included in this game. This game also has a stacked voice acting cast featuring Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo del Toro.
Major Lazer released a collaboration with Latin artists J. Balvin and El Alfa called “Que Calor” last month, which was accompanied by a music video. Back in June the EDM group released the track “Make It Hot” featuring Brazilian artist Anitta; a new single from their album Music Is The Weapon.
Khalid performed a hometown benefit concert in support of El Paso last month, as the city fell victim to a mass shooting back in August. Funds from this concert brought support to the El Paso Shooting Victims’ Fund and the El Paso Community Foundation.
