MØ Gives The Smashing Pumpkins Hit “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” an Electro-Pop Makeover

Electro pop artist MØ has shared a cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” which will be featured on Major Lazer member Walshy Fire’s forthcoming Walshy Fire Presents: MMMMØ – The Mix. This song originally appeared on the Smashing Pumpkins’ acclaimed 1995 double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, sitting at number 2 on the Billboard Modern Rock tracks chart for 6 weeks upon its release.

The original song is a grunge anthem, noted for its famous lyrics and hooks such as the opening “the world is a vampire,” which this new cover slightly re-invents while keeping the original song’s energy. The track opens up with a strong howling performance from MØ, backed by a guitar, drums and some eerie synth instrumentals, as a nod to the original.

This latest Walshy Fire album features MØ on every track, making it a collaborative album between both artists The singer released her latest studio album project entitled Forever Neverland last year, which was supported by the Diplo featured single “Sun In Our Eyes.” Diplo is also a member of Major Lazer, who has hosted numerous MØ, features.

“Diplo and I are long time collaborators now. One of the many reasons I love working with him is because I always feel like it’s a free and creative process and I always like the end product. We both loved ‘Sun In Our Eyes’ from the beginning and what makes it special to me is that it’s a combination of the two ingredients I’m always craving in music: uplifting and melancholy vibes.”
