Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash have unveiled an unreleased demo called “Wanted Man,” which is included in the upcoming installment of Dylan’s Bootleg Series titled Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15, announced last month. According to Pitchfork, the album will be a compilation of songs that Dylan had made in 1969 at Nashville recordings with Johnny Cash. Dylan wrote “Wanted Man” for Cash and went on to become a hit for the country superstar. Other tracks on the album will include “Girl From the North Country” and “Mystery Train” featuring Carl Perkins. It is set for a Nov. 1 release date. Listen to “Wanted Man” below. The new compilation will also be available on digital platforms, a triple pressed CD and a triple pressed vinyl.
Earlier this year, Dylan had joined Neil Young on stage to perform “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, Ireland. The track was included on the 11th installment of the Bootleg Series and marked the first time Dylan and Young have performed together in 25 years, with their last being in 1994 at the iconic Roseland Ballroom in New York, which has since shut down.
Cash’s daughter Roseanne Cash paid tribute to her late father this past spring with five intimate shows across the U.S. alongside six-time Grammy winner Roy Cooder.
