Mayhem Debuts Furious Song “Falsified & Hated”

Norwegian black metal band Mayhem debuts one last single “Falsified & Hated” before the release of their sixth studio album Daemon this Friday, October 25 according to The PRP. The legendary group are in the midst of a major album cycle with two previously released singles “Of Worms and Ruins” and “Worthless Abominations Destroyed” off Daemon, Mayhem’s full length studio album follow up to 2014’s Esoteric Warfare.

“Falsified & Hated” is a staple to the aggressively brutal signature sound of Mayhem. The track starts off with gutteral sounds and immediately pulsates with putrid tenacity. Mayhem’s core audience can bask in its atmospheric and relentless brute force that renders the listener overwhelmingly compelled up until the very end, with no chance for breathing room. The rapid chord progression along with its mirrored pulse pounding percussion really marries the track well. “Falsified & Hated” showcases a resurgence for Mayhem to conquer and remain steadfast in their lane.

The promotional roll out for Mayhem’s latest musical offering Daemon evokes crucial intrigue that stems from statements made by Necrobutcher (born Jørn Stubberud). According to Consequence of Sound, “…founding member and bassist Necrobutcher revealed to Heavy Consequence that he had intended to kill Mayhem guitarist Euronymous before Varg Vikernes murdered him in 1993 (watch our video above).”

As previously reported here on mxdwn, “To understand the situation regarding the murder, it is necessary to understand the band’s first tragedy in 1991, when the band’s vocalist Per Yngve Ohlin nicknamed ‘Dead’ committed suicide. According to Necrobutcher Euronymous photographed Ohlin’s corpse, which caused Necrobutcher sorrow and anger. His removal from the band in 1991 further amplified these feelings, although he rejoined the band later in 1995.”
