“Daytime Disco” pioneers Poolside have debuted a new music video for the track “Greatest City,” which takes inspiration from Brian Eno’s work with Talking Heads and David Bowie. This laid back track features gradual build ups, and a vintage pop aesthetic, that showcases the band’s unique blend of multiple genres including electronic music, pop, and Jazz.
The visuals accompanying this latest music release display shots of various cities from across the world, from various periods of history, ranging from black and white to color. These visuals are meant to compliment the track’s juxtaposition of genres, which are as diverse as the many cities shown throughout the entire music video.
“All cities have a personality of their own,” the band’s main figure Jeff Paradise stated in a press release.”While exploring a city for the first time one can enter into a silent conversation with it, and if you’re lucky its personality will reveal itself as you peel back the layers and dig into the eccentric qualities always hiding beneath the surface. Some cities are sarcastic, others stern, and some are a complex tapestry of varying personas. They all have a strong sense of history and pride.”
Earlier this year the band debuted the track “Can’t Stop Your Lovin‘” featuring the Australian electronic group Panama, ahead of their scheduled summer 2019 tour. Poolside also made an appearance during the third day of the Ohana music festival, whic held acts from artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jenny Lewis.
