English rock band Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has updated the dates of his Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes Tour, which extends to spring 2020. To support the trek, longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and visual artist Tarik Barri will join as the special guests. Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes Tour embarks on March 28, 2020 mapping out major cities in the U.S., UK and Europe, before wrapping up on July 13, 2020.
Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes Tour is an album title tour, which was initiated by Yorke alongside Godrich and Barri back in 2015. It was formed in support of Yorke’s second solo album Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes released in 2014. Five years later, the trio decided to tour together again and bring out a string of highly-anticipated performances to the stages.
Yorke recently teamed up with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea (also his Atoms For Peace bandmate) for the Waltz track “Daily Battles.” A soundtrack features in Edward Norton’s upcoming film Motherless Brooklyn.
Yorke released his third solo album in June, ANIMA, which marks his first solo album in five years. The record is imbued with Yorke’s perpetually haunted voice, chilling electronica mixed with raw feelings. The experimental and modern work is billed as Yorke’s further discovery of the connection between music and human emotion.
Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes Tour premiered a two-night stand at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 29 and 30. Featuring Godrich and Barri, the tour will touch most of the ANIMA’s tracks, classics singles from Yorke’s previous solo works The Eraser, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes and Atoms For Peace’s Amok. UPDATE (10/25): Thom Yorke has added a third NYC show to his tour. The third show will take place on April 1 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with a show at the same venue the previous day (3/31) and one at Radio City Music Hall on 3/30.
UPDATE (1/13): Yorke has added two more shows to his Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes tour. These two dates, which are in April, take place in Denver and Phoenix and are the final two additions to the 2020 tour.
