Mayer Hawthorne Debuts Music Video for Single “Over”

Mayer Hawthorne has debuted his new single “Over” along with its music video. The smooth R&B track discusses a breakup that isn’t fully over yet.  “This is my favorite song I’ve written in a long time and I’m so stoked for you to finally hear it,” said Hawthorne in a press release. “When you’re done listening, start it OVER.” Check out the groovy jam below.

It’s accompanying visual was directed by Janell Shirtcliff and is set in the 1940s at a vaudeville-style show, a show developed in the ’20s where different acts showcase their interesting but entertaining talents. “It’s a visual reminder that no matter what you look like, we are all the same – and there is a ‘freak’ in all of us” as described in the press release. Check out the video below.

“Over” marks the third solo single Hawthorne has released this year, following “The Game” and “The Great Divide” under his new record label, his newly launched label, Big Bucks. No word yet on a follow up to his 2016 album Man About Town but has released additional music since. He is also one-half of the funky duo Tuxedo, who recently announced new seven-inch vinyl release for Record Store Day on Black Friday, November 29th. The record will feature two unreleased tracks called “Get The Money” featuring Ceelo Green and “Own Thang” featuring the one and only Tony! Toni! Toné! Their latest effort, Tuxedo III was released earlier this year.
