Lana Del Rey Invites Chris Isaak to Cover His Hit Single “Wicked Game”

While promoting her latest musical offering, her sixth studio album Norman Fucking Rockwell, American singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey‘s latest stop on her tour was in Los Angeles Thursday night, October 10 at the Hollywood Bowl. Her guest heavy set turned out such illustrious names as Sean Lennon, Adam Cohen, Weyes Blood and Zella Day. The most surprising guests of the night came in the form of rock and roll crooner, Chris Isaak. The two performed his biggest hit, the seductively captivating “Wicked Game”.

Del Rey’s sultry voice complements the deep, soft, and smooth vocals of the seasoned crooner,  Isaak. Currently a California resident, Del Rey stopped in her home in LA and what better way to bask in the West Coast than to perform with Isaak. According to Consequence of Sound, Del Rey while on stage commented, “‘We can’t be in the middle of Hollywood and not hear the sexiest song of all time,’” Del Rey told the crowd as she introduced the iconic crooner (via Variety). The rendition was indeed a sultry one, with LDR’s velvety vocals laying under Isaak’s soul-shuddering tremble spectacularly.”

Aside from her rendition of “Wicked Game” Del Rey has become increasingly known to cover some critical hits from some legendary artists. As previously reported here on mxdwn Del Rey posted on her Instagram a small, intimate rehearsal performance of her cover of Joni Mitchell’s “For Free.” Del Rey along with Weyes Blood and Zella Day are shown in the video, “… cross-legged on the floor, singing the verses and chorus of the song individually: with Weyes Blood handling the first verse, Lana Del Rey handling the second, and Day finishing off the song, although all three bring their harmonies together on the chorus.”

Another recent stop on her tour saw Del Rey alongside Joan Baez to sing a duet of Baez’s 1975 classic “Diamonds and Rust.” According to mxdwn, Baez, “…praised Del Rey’s “down-to-earth” personality, which she observed from her dinner with her daughter and Del Rey a night before. The folk veteran said, “so my granddaughter, who doesn’t get impressed very much, had dinner with us last night, with Lana.” She added. “… And she just said, ‘Gosh, she’s so nice! She’s so down to earth! She’s a real person!’”
