Atmospheric ethereal sounds build up the electronic texture to the latest track from, California rock band, The Neighbourhood titled “Yellow Box” that will be featured on Death Stranding: Timefall the soundtrack from original music inspired by the forthcoming PS4 video game, Death Stranding. The Death Stranding video game has release date of November 8. According to a press release,  DEATH STRANDING: Timefall (Original Music from the World of DEATH STRANDING) announced that “…RCA Records has partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment (‘SIE’) to release the soundtrack on November 7th, pre order is available NOW.”

The Neighbourhood’s current line-up includes Jesse Rutherford (lead vocals), Jeremiah Freedman (rhythm and guitar/backing vocals), Zachary Abels (lead and rhythm guitar/backing vocals), Michael Margott (bass/backing vocals) and Brandon Fried (drums/backing vocals). According to the ABC News Radio Online, The Neighbourhood commented on being selected to be a part of the soundtrack saying:

“‘We’re very flattered to be chosen by [game director Hideo] Kojima to be a part of this project,’ the band says in a statement. ‘This is the first time we’ve ever had our music in a video game and it’s gonna be a trip hearing it while playing Death Stranding.'”

The spacey electronic tone of “Yellow Box” calls for suspenseful game play that one might anticipate for action set pieces, set in the video game world of Death Stranding. The press release further confirms this, with the synopsis of the game and the creator behind Death Stranding stating that it comes from, “…legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defying experience for PlayStation®4 system. Sam Bridges must brave a world transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the remnants of our future in his hands, he embarks on a mission to reunite the shattered world. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and humanity on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam to journey across the ravaged continent and save mankind from impending annihilation.”

“Yellow Box” is the latest material released by The Neighbourhood following another single released in August.  The Neighbourhood released their set-titled third studio album last year. The press release concludes with “‘Yellow Box’ follows recent single ‘Middle of Somewhere’ as the band’s first releases of 2019 following last year’s Hard to Imagine The Neighbourhood Ever Changing, a four-part, stream-friendly playlist of an album.”
