Two Men Play Dice on a Barber Shop Floor in Refused’s Minimalist Video for “Economy of Death”

Swedish punk band Refused have debuted a minimalist music video for their song “Economy of Death,” a track featured on their forthcoming album War Music, out October 18 via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy. This aggressive punk song seeks to capture the “paranoid madness,” going on in the present with vocalist Dennis Lyxzén stating: “It’s only a mushroom cloud away.”

“Economy of Death,” features hard hitting electric guitars, drums and bass, mixed in with mellower moments, which tone down the track’s aggressive bridges. The video is simplistic, and shows two men, one dressed in a beret and green shirt, and the other in a suit playing dice on the floor of a barber shop.

This single follows up from previous singles “Rev 001,” released last month and “Blood Red” released this past August. Refused have joined the star studded cast of Cyberpunk 2077, doing the sounds and voices of the in-game band SAMURAI.

“I’m incredibly excited about having Refused on board for Cyberpunk 2077. I know for a fact there are a lot of fans of the band at the studio, including Piotr Adamczyk, one of the composers working on the game, who came to me with the idea for this collaboration,” Marcin Przybyłowicz, the composer behind the game’s soundtrack explained. “I’m very happy he did, because the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused deliver as SAMURAI have blown me away. I can wholeheartedly say the punk factor of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!”
