Canadian band Black Mountain have released a new track and visual for “What’s You Conquest?” a completely new track that is released separately from their latest studio album release Destroyer, released earlier this year. This track was accompanied by a psychedelic visual, which matches the tracks psychedelic sonics.
“What’s Your Conquest?” is straight forward hard hitting psychedelic rock, with plenty of energy pounding drums, guitars and synths molding perfectly together with the shredding vocals. The visuals are an assortment of different colors, showing different forms of pixel art, that glitch throughout different parts of the song, reinforcing the psychedelic feel of the track.
Earlier this year the band released a music video for the song “Licensed to Drive,” directed by Zev Deans and produced by Brendan McGowan. This video is filled with classic 8-bit nostalgia which channel the band’s psychedelic feel, blended with their love of classic videogame aesthetics.
Destroyer is the band’s first full-length studio album release in three years, since 2016’s IV, which was also a monumental moment in forming the band’s sound. Black Mountain have also recently wrapped up their 2019 summer tour Horns Arising which began in Denver Colorado, and finished up in Columbus, Ohio.
“The album has some great songs and sounds, showing off styles that appear influenced by legendary groups like Pink Floyd,” mxdwn reviewer Caitlin Wills explained in her review of the album, “Black Mountain are legendary in their own right, fusing together synthesized sounds and rock instruments to create another great album.”
