Siner-songwriter Sinead O’Connor has announced her first shows in North America in 6 years, after her previously planned tour dates last year were cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” While the artist’s previously planned shows in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Northampton, Massachusetts will not be rescheduled, the artist will be hitting major cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta and Chicago.
Her tour will begin in Galway, Ireland next week, and will end at the City Winery in New York City on April 16th next year. The artist launched her come back last month by performing “Nothing Compares 2 U” and a cover of The Pogues’ “Rainy Night In Soho,” on Ireland’s Late Late Show.
O’Connor rose to fame in the late 1980s for her musical style, and unique fashion style, appearing with a shaved head and unique garments. The performer also famously had her fair share on controversy, and has made a variety of controversial political statements throughout her years as a performer.
Last year O’Connor released the track “Milestones,” which was one of her first pieces of music in over four years. While the performer changed her name to Magda Davitt in 2017, she converted to Islam in 2018, and changed her name once again to Shuhada’ Sadaqat, although she still performs under the name Sinead O’Connor.
O’Connor has faced many issues with mental health, which she spoke about openly during an appearance on Dr. Phil in 2017. During this interview, she discussed her struggles with depression, abuse and suicide, and how they shaped her personal life.
