Caribou Releases First New Song in Five Years “Home”

Dan Snaith aka Caribou released a new track, “Home” his first new music in five years. Snaith also announced tour dates in North America and Europe. The song has a positive feel with a retro 70’s backdrop against lyrics, “Baby, I’m home” set with a sharp beat and groove.

Speaking of the track, Snaith says: “I’m always listening to lots of music and sometimes a loop just jumps out at me – it’s too perfect. That’s how it was with Gloria Barnes’ ‘Home’ – I kept returning to it, meaning to do something with it but not knowing what. Sometimes making music feels like a process I’m in charge of … but there are other times when things just present themselves and my job is to follow their lead. It wasn’t until the circumstances of someone close to me mirrored the refrain of the original song that the track all came together.

Snaith continues, “When I’ve played it to friends, several of them have said that they feel like it’s speaking to their circumstances, about people close to them.” The lyrics and beat simultaneously collide against the disco-pop feel with the high pitch vocals that Snaith so cleverly creates. Caribou’s last studio album was 2014’s Our Love and in 2017 Daphni album Joli Mai. Caribou will start their US, Canada and European tour on March 16, 2020.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
