Life of Agony, the alternative metal band, reawakened the angst of its fans by headbanging with them once again to new song, “Black Heart”. This song is the centerpiece of Life of Agony’s soon to be released new album The Sound of Scars, which is a follow up to the story of their debut album The River Runs Red.
Since the late 1980s Life of Agony has been shredding stages all over the world, sharing the stage with the likes of some very well-known artists such as Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band’s albums have been produced by none other than Sylvia Massey who co-produced albums for bands such as Tool, System of a Down and Johnny Cash.
The band split twice over two decades. The first time the band split was in 1997 when Mina Caputo, lead vocalist for Life of Agony, felt that her heart was not in the music. In 2003 Mia jumped back into LoA and hopped to making a CD that would later be released in 2005. Then in 2011 the original drummer for LoA, Sal Abruscato said, “We’re not gonna play [anymore]. We moved out of our studio. We all kind of feel like we’re at the end. We’re never gonna make another record, because of those kinds of problems I was talking about [earlier in the interview] – we can’t agree on writing a song. And Mina Caputo (vocals) wants to pursue her lifestyle. And that’s pretty much the reason why also I’ve moved on and I’m doing my own thing… to just keep going; I didn’t want my career to stop with Life of Agony. Life of Agony doesn’t tour, Life of Agony doesn’t do much. And so we were at a point where it was like… We did the last three shows in July [2011] and then we moved out of our studio, and that’s it. I don’t foresee anything in the future; I highly doubt it. I don’t know how that would happen,” on a BLABBERMOUTH.NET interview.
With heavy guitar riffs and difficult drum solos “Black Heart,” produced by napalm records, breaths excitement into the soul of the song. The music video darkens the song with red and black filters to show the pain in letting go of relationships. The video itself contains the group’s fans moshing and headbanging to the music. It is easy to get pumped up to “Black Heart.” Catchy lyrics and hardcore vibe, an overall smash hit.
