Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have officially debuted their latest studio album, Ghosteen on YouTube for its worldwide premiere, a day before its official release on other platforms. Several visuals, as well as song lyrics are present on the YouTube stream for this album, with Tom Hingston directing the visuals and Yusuke Murakami, Markus Lehtonen, Aislinn Clifford, Amanda Tooke and Tiago Higgs handling the visual effects.
Much of the album takes a more symphonic direction, with powerful and deep orchestration, filled with grand ambient sounds, and orchestration, that fit the albums minimal lyrical presence. Tracks such as “Sun Forest,” feature deeper more somber portions, while “Galleon Ships,”starts off with a somewhat darker tone with intense synths that gradually build up to an epic combination of sounds.
This album follows Cave’s newly announced tour, entitled: Nick Cave – An Evening of Talk and Music, which began on September 20th in Washington, D.C. The tour is set to end on October 15th in Los Angeles, California at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. During these events Cave allows audience members to discuss any topic, without limits, with audience member being encouraged to be confrontational, challenging, and fearless during these discussions.
“I thought that a direct conversation with the audience might be valuable – in the recent live shows we have all shown a kind of willingness to open up,” Cave explained during a press release.
Cave toured with The Bad Seeds during the fall of 2018, which had stops across North and South America, with shows scheduled in Mexico City, São Paulo, Brazil, Montevideo, Uruguay, Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
