Lana Del Rey Covers Joni Mitchell’s “For Free” Live in Seattle

Lana Del Rey performed a cover of the Joni Mitchell classic “For Free,” in Seattle, Washington last night, which was shared via the performer’s Instagram. This track originally appeared on Mitchell’s album Ladies Of The Canyon, which was released back in 1970.

Del Rey has a history with this song, and played a brief snippet of this track on her Instagram page back in 2017.

“Thank you so much Seattle!” the singer wrote in her recent Instagram post. “Got a nice long soundcheck. Cody took a video. Next time you see me at the Hollywood bowl I’ll be singing this with Zella Day and Weyes Blood. See you tomorrow night in Portland”

The performer is currently touring across North America and Europe, in support of her recent release Norman Fucking Rockwell, which was released in August. During the first stop on this tour at Jones Beach Theater in New York, Del Rey performed a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” with Cohen’s son Adam Cohen. This tour is expected to conclude at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany next March.

She has also recently collaborated with Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus for the new track “Don’t Call Me Angel (Charlie’s Angels),” which will be featured on the upcoming Charlie’s Angels film, that is set to be released this November.
