Juliana Hatfield has released a cover of “Next to You” by The Police. The cover also serves as the second single released from her upcoming cover album Juliana Hatfield Sings The Police, releasing Nov. 15 on American Laundromat Records. The 12-song album was fully produced by Juliana Hatfield with additional contributions from Chris Anzalone and Ed Valauskas. It is also her second cover album, with her last being, Juliana Hatfield Sings Olivia Newton-John, released last year.
In a recent interview with Billboard, she refers to making the cover album as a vacation “Whenever I make an album of my own songs, at the end I feel so depleted. I feel like I’ve said everything I have to say and will never write another song. But I don’t want to stop making music. That’s when I go and start looking at other people’s stuff… so I can keep working. Recording covers is like a working vacation. It’s fun, and it also informs my own stuff afterwards.” Check out the cover below. Hatfield has since released e “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da” earlier this year.
Hatfield also released original music, Weird, was also released earlier this year.
