Dayton, Ohio-based Christian metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada are prepping the release of their seventh studio album The Act which is slated for an October 11 release. The group debuted their latest track which is the third single off The Act “Chemical”  Friday, September 27 via Twitter. According to Alternative Press, “Chemical” “…is the third single released by the band. Their most recent was “Please Say No”.

“Chemical” boasts a softer more ambient sounding rock tune that still retains its edge with piecing guitar chords and emotionally charged lyrics. The lyric video includes three columns of visual kaleidoscope images with a purple boarder background. The Devil Wears Prada’s current roster includes: Mike Hranica (lead vocals/additional guitar), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar/vocals), Kyle Sipress (lead guitar/backing vocals) and Andy Trick (bass).

According to a press release, lead vocalist Hranica expresses his sentiments for the latest track “Chemical” saying, “”Musically, I love that ‘Chemical’ bends lines. It’s not so much rock, not metal, not post-hardcore. I think that’s a big part of The Act’s character and ‘Chemical’ is a hooky one to exemplify that.”

Keyboardist for The Devil Wears Prada Jon Gering shares how the track broadens the current sound of the group saying, “‘Chemical’ always felt like a special track to us and it’s one that pushes the boundaries of what The Devil Wears Prada can sound like.”

According to Alternative Press The Devil Wears Prada, “…also announced a tour with Norma Jean and Gideon following the release of their album.” Tickets and preorders for The Act are available here.
