The American metal band, Witch, has just announced their fall tour dates which will include a performance at Desert Daze Festival. Witch is a stoner metal group formed out of Massachusetts and Vermont. The group was formed in early 2005 by American rock band Dinosaur Jr’s guitarist Joseph “J” Mascis, and long-time friend Dave Sweetapple. The members then recruited guitarist and lead vocalist Kyle Thomas to join the band.
The band released their eponymous debut album on March 7, 2006, through New York-based record label Tee Pee records. They also contributed an alternate version of “Rip Van Winkle” to the Kemado Records compilation album, Invaders, later that year. The group released their second and most recent album, Paralyzed, on March 18th, 2008, almost exactly 2 years after their self-titled debut album.
Witch will make a stop at the Desert Daze music festival taking place at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area in California. The festival will be headlined by The Flaming Lips and feature performances from Stereo Lab, Animal Collective, Crumb, and Fred Armisen. But that is just the first stop in a small west coast tour that Witch will embark on. The tour will make stops in San Francisco, Eugene and Portland before finally finishing its journey in Seattle, WA. The rest of the tour’s stops can be seen below.
Witch will have their classic debut album for sale on purple smoke vinyl, as well as being bundled with their follow-up album, Paralyzed, for sale on silver vinyl.
