Snoop Dogg Covers Classic Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Song “Red Right Hand” for Peaky Blinders

Iconic west coast hip-hop superstar, Snoop Dogg, has become a household name from his many appearances in movies, his entrepreneurial business ventures, his crazy social media presence and his unmistakably witty personality. But he may have given suburban families another reason to recognize his name, covering the classic Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds song, “Red Right Hand.” Snoop’s remix to the song will pose as the theme song to the wildly popular BBC crime drama series, Peaky Blinders.

Peaky Blinders is BBC’s wildly popular drama series which takes place in a broken down and desperate Britain. Peaky Blinders is about the aftermath of the Great War, returning soldiers, newly minted revolutions and criminal gangs who are fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. The show focuses on war hero Thomas Shelby, whose family is responsible for running the countries most powerful gang, Peaky Blinders.

“Red Right Hand,” which is off of Nick Cave’s Let Love In album in 1994, has served as the show’s only theme song since its origin in 2013. However, Snoop Dogg isn’t the only artist to try his hand at the classic Nick Cave song. The show has recruited help from artists such as PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys, Laura Marling, FIDLAR, and Iggy Pop and Jarvis Cocker. Although Snoop ‘Shelby’ wasn’t the only artist to cover the wildly popular show’s theme song, his name might be the most unique one on the list.

The video starts out with Snoop Dogg saying “By the order of the Peaky Blinders, this is ‘Red Right Hand’ by Snoop Shelby,” before breaking down into an eerily groovy beat. “Red Right Hand” delivers that classic gangster style Snoop is known for while maintaining that family mob feeling ambiance throughout. The video combines different clips from the show with black and white clips of Snoop Dogg in his studio. Snoop Dogg might be the most fitting musician to record this crime series cover.
