Metallica Postpones Tour Dates As James Hetfield Enters Rehab

James Hetfield

Metallica fans received some deflating news today as Metallica announced on Twitter that they would be postponing their Australian and New Zealand tour dates as lead singer and guitarist James Hetfield has entered rehab. The series of six tweets was titled “A Note from Lars, Kirk, and Rob.” In the note, they reveal that Hetfield has re-entered treatment for his struggles with addiction. The intention is to reschedule the concerts for a later date and all tickets will be fully refunded, including those with Enhanced Experiences tickets and Black tickets.

Metallica is one of, if not the most successful touring act in music history. The band recently performed in San Francisco as reprise of their Symphony & Metallica (S&M) project from the ’90s, celebrating its 20th anniversary. Tickets for that show sold out almost instantly, so the band booked second night with promises to combat scalpers.
