The LA based musical collective Saudade has signed with Sargent House Records, and announced a new EP entitled Shadows & Light/Sanctuary Dub. While this project does not yet have a release date; an EP cover, along with a tracklist displaying features from the Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Chelsea Wolfe, along with the OGM and Yeti Bones of Ho99o9 have been released.
The first single “Crisis,” features performances from bassist Chuck Doom, keyboardist John Medeski, guitarist David Torn and drummer Gil Sharone. The eclectic experimental track features outstanding performances from each of its members, while the music video, created by Chuck Doom serves as a tribute to legendary Weather Report bassist Jaco Pastorius, who served as Doom’s mentor during the 1980s.
The band’s eclectic style, which shows them tackle various genres from jazz, rock and world music is centered around bringing out the most of its unique players. Its members come from a variety of musical backgrounds, with other members of this collective include Chino Moreno, who also plays with Chuck Doom in the band Crosses, Robert Thomas Jr. of Weather Report, Mackie Jayson of Cro-Mags and Dr. Know of Bad Brains playing for the collective.
“It’s a huge honor to be part of this project,” Medeski explained in a press release. “The first real band I was ever in was with Chuck Doom in the early ’80s in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. For this to be coming back around 38 years later is truly magical.”
