Devin Townsend Announces Touring Lineup for “Volume 1” Shows Including Ché Aimee Dorval and Mike Keneally of Dethklok

Devin Townsend has unveiled the lineup for his latest backing band for his first volume of 2020 tours, which include: drummer Morgan Ågren of Kaipa, guitarist Mike Keneally of Dethklok, Ambient guitarist Markus Reuter of Stick Men, Stick Men, keyboardist Diego Tejeida of Haken, singer and guitarist Ché Aimee Dorval of Casuatlies of Cool and bassist Nathan Navarro, as well as a three person choir comprised of Samantha and Anne Preis, and Arabella Packford.

“It is with profound gratitude that I can announce this next tour. To be joined by musicians of this caliber, as well as crew and sound design of such a level, is something I am truly humbled by,” Townsend said in YouTube video. “As one who has been working professionally my whole career to be able to be allowed to pull something like this off, I really can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to everyone involved.”

Townsend explained that these new shows will be completely organic, and allow the performers to play and impovise in a way that fits each of their styles. Earlier this year Townsend explained his desire to perform his latest album Empath, in full, following the conclusions of these variety tours.

“This will be without a net,” Townsend elaborated.”No backing tracks, no clicks, a lot of room for improvisation, and every possible avenue through musicians and production of high caliber for new and interesting things to be possible each night.”

Townsend has stated that he will be bringing along Samantha Preis on his recent European tour in a series of tweet. The performer is currently scheduled to head to rehearsals in Berlin.
