Kitten Debuts Smooth Synth-Pop Single “Goodbye Honeymoon Phase”

Kitten released a new song, “Goodbye Honeymoon Phase” which starts off slow and moody as vocalist, Chloe Chaidez sets the tone with a love song that has a synth-pop, ’80s feel. Lyrics like, “Every time we fall in love it feels like forever, till the castle turns into a cage. Maybe there’s another day, week or year together but we both know something’s changed. I’m slurring all my words. You hit me where it hurts. Somehow it only gets worse, goodbye honeymoon phase.”

The song, “Goodbye Honeymoon Phase” is described as a track that captures the moment when a relationship loses its luster, and the future becomes uncertain. Chaidez can capture the essence of the ups and downs in relationships. When you meet someone and develop the spark and after time one may feel bored with the relationship or unable to stay. It’s very true that when the honeymoon phase wears out, it is easy to just want to head for the hills.

Kitten truly captures the sentiment through the tone of this new song. As the song fades out, the vocals slow down and a violin interjects before spiraling out. The band includes vocalist Chaidez, Dave Stagno (vocals, guitar), Max Tsiring (keys), Parker Silzer IV (guitar), and rhythm section Blu and Rex DeTiger (bass and drums).  Kitten will release a five-song EP, Goodbye Honeymoon Phase on October 11, 2019.

Kitten recently released “Memphis” a track that is described as infectious with its upbeat synth-pop sensibilities, but steadfast with a grunge/punk edge. Kitten’s stellar appeal is lead singer Chloe Chaidez, also of Nasty Cherry fame, who commands the single with ambitious gusto.

Kitten has toured with Smashing Pumpkins, New Order, Girlpool, Hatchie, Blue October and has worked with Dorian Electra and Smashing Pumpkins’ James Iha. At the same time, Chaidez immersed herself in Nasty Cherry, a new project created by pop luminary Charli XCX. Writing and collaborating with Charli proved an invaluable learning experience. Nasty Cherry, released “Win” earlier this year. The band was formed by Chaidez, drummer Debbie Knox-Hewson (former Charli XCX), bassist Georgia Somary (set director in Star Wars) and singer Gabbriette Bechtel (model for the recent cover of Galore).

In October 2018, Kitten released “Oh My God” a song about the feelings one experiences when a romance comes to an end. The track is a breathy song with lyrics, “Oh my God you broke me down. If I’m a queen, then where’s my crown. Oh my God, you broke my heart, you took my faith, I watch you carry it away. You broke my heart.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
