Electronic artist M83 has released their final part in the Extazus series with “Feelings,” featured on the project’s forthcoming album DSVII, which will be released tomorrow. This upcoming album will be released on digital formats, as a CD digipak, and as a limited pink galaxy double vinyl edition that is housed in a gatefold sleeve.
This latest video, like the previous two videos in the series, “Temple Of Sorrow,” and “Lune De Fiel,” was directed by French experimental director Bertrand Mandico. The visual style continues to tell a unique story, as the video’s protagonist navigates through a fantastic world, filled with bright shots of blue hues, and references to classic videogames, before encountering a lover and joining them together in the light.
The song also takes the same trajectory as the two previous tracks, but takes a more ambient approach with intense sonic landscapes, that teleport the viewer outside of their reality. This sonic landscape matches the visuals, as different synth sounds, borrowing from various forms of 8-bit electronic music, are blended together to give the listener a sense of this new world.
“In a way, I’m taking a lot of risks in releasing this album. Bertrand was perfect, he loves risks,” Anthony Gonzalez, the main figure behind M83 and sole figure behind the DSVII album.”He’s really underground but has grand ideas. His aesthetic is very pure and mystical. He’s been able to tell a really strange story with imagery that doesn’t really fit into our modern society, which I love.”
