Ministry vocalist Al Jourgensen joined Dave Navarro, Billy Duffy, Billy Morrison, Erik Eldenius and Jeordie White closed out Above Ground 2019 yesterday with a cover of Iggy Pop and The Stooges classic “Search and Destroy.” This performance took place at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, as part of the Above Ground benefit concert in support of mental health awareness.
Jourgensen first joined the stage to perform a cover of the closing track on The Stooges self-titled debut album “Little Doll.” Navarro and the res of the guests were performing this album in its entirety, and stated at the show that they could not bring out Jourgensen unless they performed “Search and Destroy,” which is featured on their 1973 album Raw Power.
Ministry are embarking on a North American tour this fall, and are currently scheduled to close out these dates with another closing performance in Los Angeles at The Forum. In addition, the band are planning to release box-set of material from their early days on the Wax Trax! era in the early 1980s, which will feature “a vintage live performance of Ministry from their early synth pop days!”
