Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme will be releasing yet another addition to his Desert Sessions series, with Desert Sessions Volumes 11& 12 on the way next month via Matador Records. While the exact date is unknown, confirmed guests featured on the project include Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top , Les Claypool of Primus, Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint, drummer Carla Azar and Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters.

Homme teased these projects earlier this year by posting various updates regarding the project on his Instagram. These sessions were recorded in Joshua Tree, California, last year and will feature 8 new tracks for the eclectic series which began back in 1998. A website for the upcoming release has also been launched.

A New York Times Report, which broke the story reads(NYT articles feature a paywall):

“THE DESERT SESSIONS Between 1997 and 2003, the Queens of the Stone Age leader Joshua Homme released a series of 10-inch records and CDs documenting “the Desert Sessions” — a series of shaggy yet propulsive songwriting collaborations with his Rolodex of alt- and stoner-rock luminaries, recorded in Joshua Tree, Calif. Homme returned to the desert late last year for “Volumes 11 & 12,” eight songs that feature one of the project’s most impressive lineup of players, including the ZZ Top vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons, the Primus leader Les Claypool, the Jack White drummer Carla Azar, the Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, the Scissor Sisters’ frontman Jake Shears and more. (Matador; October.) — C.W.”

This is the first Desert Sessions, since the release of Desert Sessions Volumes 9 & 10 in 2003.
