Heavy metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne has joined the Billboard Top 10 for the first time in over 30 years, thanks to the release of his latest single with Post Malone “Take What You Want,” which reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The singer’s last top 10 was “Close My Eyes Forever” a duet with Lita Ford which also hit No. 8 in 1989.
“I’d never even heard of this kid,” he remarked of working with Post Malone. “He wanted me to sing on his song ‘Take What You Want’, so I did, and then one thing led to another.”
This track was produced by Andrew Watt, who is also working on Osbourne’s upcoming solo album, which the metal legend has called “the catalyst to get me to where I am today.” The album was finished within 4 weeks according to the artist, who has stated that it is one of the albums that helped him excape the feeling that he was “dying.”
“If it wasn’t for making this record I would still be on traction, thinking, ‘I’m going to be lying here for ever.’ I’ve missed music so badly,” he stated according to Consequence of Sound.”My fans are so loyal and so good. Up until making the album I thought I was dying. But that got me off my ass… The album was finished in four weeks.”
The singer cancelled his remaining 2019 tour to recover from surgery and a bout of pneumonia that he faced earlier this year. He will be resuming his No More Tours 2 Tour next year.
