Ghost Announces September 2019 Release of “Lost” ’60s Era 7″ Seven Inches of Satanic Panic Featuring Songs “Kiss the Go Goat” and “Mary on A Cross”

Ghost have announced the release of what they are calling a recording made “during the summer of 1969,” featuring two new songs “Kiss The Go Goat” and “Mary on A Cross,” which will be featured on an upcoming 7″ “Seven Inches of Satanic Panic.” This recording will be released on September 27 via Loma Vista Recordings. This recording was originally hinted at earlier last month.

This latest release is advertised in a joking manner by the Swedish band, who originally formed in 2006, and utilize a lot of early heavy metal aesthetics during their live performances and songs. Much of their music is derived from Black Sabbath era hard rock and heavy metal, which accompany them during live performances whey they are donned entirely in face make-up, and cryptic clothing.

Their video for Kiss The Go Goat borrows many elements of 1960s psychedelia, with a new webisode chapter that shows the band performing at the classic Whiskey A Go-Go. It is unknown if the band will continue to venture into this style, as their next release will be delayed for at least another year and half.

A statement made by the band reads:

“Back during the summer of 1969, an up-and-coming band called Ghost, fronted by Papa Nihil, played its first date at The Whiskey A Go-Go on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. The show was to celebrate Ghost’s first release on Galaxy Recordings, “Seven Inches of Satanic Panic,” the double-A-side 7-inch single featuring “Kiss The Go Goat” and “Mary on A Cross.” This original Ghost line-up eventually disbanded and the single, its original tapes, and the band’s only promo and live performance of “Kiss The Go Goat” ever filmed, were lost…that is until recently when the songs and the Super 8 footage were discovered and resurrected by Papa Nihil.”
