EDM, pop and dance hall producer trio Major Lazer have dropped a new dance track entitled “Que Calor,” with Latin artists J. Balvin and El Alfa. Colin Tilley, who has worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Future and Nicki Minaj, directed the music video, while VMA winner Calvit Hodge choreographed the video.
This latest track stars Major Lazer’s Diplo and Ape Drums, along with Balvin and El Alfa, as they dance in a warehouse alongside Lazer Gyals, Sara Bivens and Helen Gedlu. Musically the song blends elements of pop, dance hall, reggaeton, cumbia and dembow together blending the styles of each of the artist’s countries.
The trio released the single “Make It Hot,” featuring Brazilian artist Anita back in June, which will also be featured on the upcoming album Music Is The Weapon. This will be the first album produced without Jillionaire, who has been replaced by Ape Drums.
This will be the group’s final album according to Diplo, who will be focusing on his country project Thomas Wesley.
“I don’t want to force it anymore. And I’m into leaving on a high note. We did our show in Cuba, we did the cartoon, and everything else. And we’re making a really awesome record, the best we’ve ever done, right now. It’s diverse as hell. But I don’t want to just keep touring it until people don’t want to listen to dancehall and reggae anymore,” Diplo explained in an interview with Esquire.”So I think I want to concentrate on something new, whether it’s Silk City or my new Diplo pop project, or country music. That’s what motivates me: starting from scratch to try and build something.”
