Kurt Cobain’s estate has reached a merchandising deal with Live Nation. According to The Fader, the deal will feature a 50-piece clothing collection called “Kurt Was Here.” Cobain’s drawings, paintings, and notes are featured as designs which will be on hoodies, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. Cobain’s daughter, Frances Bean is listed as a “curator” on the new line. A representative of the estate released a statement about the new clothing line.
They stated “We believe that the importance of art is exceedingly potent in today’s social and political climate… and that it is the right time to share this collection of Kurt’s work with artists, collectors and fans, allowing them to experience Kurt’s legacy in a new way, and collectively celebrate his lasting impact on the world.”
The line will be available via Barneys, with shirts starting out at $113. Additional merchandise can also be purchased on Cobain’s official website. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Jed Foundation, a young adult suicide prevention group. Cobain was one part of the iconic band Nirvana alongside Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl. The band formed in 1987 and is listed as one of the Greatest Artists of All Time from Rolling Stone, and have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
