Classic pop punk icons Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer have announced a series of summer 2020 co-headlining tour dates across Europe and the US next year. These tour dates will be presented by Harley-Davidson, and will begin in Paris, France and end in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
“It’s kind of a Green Day idea. And we talked about how we weren’t really wanting to do stadiums and do something that was like throwback to Monsters of Rock Tour,” Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day’s frontman stated in an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1.”There was, of course, Fall Out Boy and Weezer and now we’re stoked.”
“To me, I remember, in the 90s, there was this one summer, and Guns and Roses, Metallica went on the stadium tour and my parents didn’t let me go to it. And I feel trapped in that forever and we wanted to …You know what I mean? But you want to recreate that memory,” Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy’s bassist explained in the interview.” Hopefully if somebody who gets to go to the tour, I think this tour represents counter-programming, I think that the world is moving in one direction in an obvious way, or whatever. I think that this tour represents counter programming to that and it’s awesome to take part in that and be a small part of it.”
Each band will be releasing new albums in the upcoming year, prior to the announcement of this tour. Green Day will be releasing their next album Father Of All, on February 7th, next year, Weezer’s next album Van Weezer is scheduled for a May 2020 Release date, while Fall Out Boy’s compilation album Greatest Hits: Believers Never Die – Volume Two, will be out November 15.
While Revolution Radio is Green Day’s most recent studio album, released in 2016, the band debuted a single enititled “Back In The USA,” in 2017. Weezer has been more consistent with studio album releases, debuting The Black Album, earlier this year.
