Korn is excited to announce its new album, The Nothing. Korn has always been known for its experimental marketing techniques, but the band decided to amp it up a bit with this one and flex their creative mind in a different outlet other than music. Like many people out there, Korn is a big fan of podcasts, so in efforts to help raise awareness for the group’s album, it has teamed up with Adam Mason and Simon Boyes to help create a six-episode podcast titled after the album. The Nothing is a fictional crime series following a journalist who travels to a small town in Kansas to investigate a missing person and along the way he finds something that sends him on a spiral into his own heart of darkness. Although there are no details regarding how the music ties into the podcast or when the release date is, the band is excited to give fans something other than music to obsess over.
But on top of announcing their crime-series podcast, the band has also released a new single titled, “Can You Hear Me.” The song was released with an accompanying music video which was also a visual teaser for the band’s podcast series, although nothing too revealing about the podcast was in the video there were words like “cult” and “death cult” written on paper. The song starts out with a strong message from the band with missing person signs visible in the video before it seeps into the heavy, head-bobbing guitar riff. Throughout the song, the lyrics, “I’ll never be the same again,” were repetitively present giving an eerily relatable connection between the song and the podcast. The Nothing is set to release on September 13th and fans are hoping the podcast will be released around that date as well.
Korn is currently finishing up their Ticket To Rock tour with fellow heavy metal bands, Alice in Chains, Slipknot, Slayer and Shinedown. Once they are finished up with that they have an appearance at the Aftershock Music Festival in Sacramento, California, then they are done performing. Hopefully, with a new album, the announcement of a podcast series, and an empty schedule, the band can start planning for their next tour.
