Established Swedish lawyer Henrik Olsson Lilja, who gained public notoriety after representing rapper A$AP Rocky, was shot in the head and the chest in the Swedish capital of Stockholm earlier today. After Lilja was was shot he was reported to have been conscious and contacted the authorities himself, however since the emergency services arrived there have been no updates so his condition remains unknown.
Swedish police have started investigating the matter as an isolated incident unsure of the true motives behind the attack. Witnesses describe seeing Lilja wrestling with another man in a stairwell before he was shot twice, they then go on to describe seeing a black SUV that was present at the scene speeding away with a tail of police following behind them. Although it is unclear who the shooter was, he has been identified as a male and authorities have taken several suspects into custody as well as arresting another senior lawyer who had just recently been banned from all contact with Lilja.
The lawyers name first came to the eye of the public while representing rapper A$AP Rocky for an assault case. The US rapper was convicted of assault in the Swedish capital of Stockholm following a brawl with a 19-year-old man back in June. When the trial initially broke, Rocky was looking at a potential 6-year prison term in a Swedish prison if he was found guilty, but after spending almost a month detained in Sweeden, Rocky was finally released from jail just a few weeks short of his verdict. After being found guilty the judge decided to lift the 6-year prison term and instead give A$AP Rocky a two year suspended sentence and full repayment to the victim of the incident, stating that the time he spent in a Swedish detention center was adequate.
A$AP Rocky wasn’t Lilja’s only high-profile client, among several other big names Lilja represented Qiao Jianjun, one of China’s most wanted fugitive’s accused by Bejing of embezzling millions of dollars. Although the case is ironically close to the sentencing of A$AP Rocky, it doesn’t look like the rapper had any sort of involvement in the incident.
