Courtney Barnett has announced a series of intimate live shows across North America, beginning with a performance in Wilmington, Delaware, and ending in Sonoma, Califronia. This latest solo tour will feature the singer without a backing band, to create a stripped down experience, reminiscent of her earlier years of performing.
The artist’s latest album release, Tell Me How You Really Feel, came out in 2018, which highlighted the singer’s sing-speaking vocal delivery, and numerous guitar driven rock songs. Many have attributed the styles of early grunge bands such as Hole and Nirvana as a major influence on this project. The album commercially was a modest hit, reaching number 22 on the Billboard 200, while receiving a score of 80 on Metacritic.
“I tried not to Google the review for my last album that much, but sometimes I’m waiting for someone to come along and tell me what the songs mean because I’m too close to them – you need someone more removed,” she explained in an interview with Refinery 29. “Then I read it and I’m like ah, that’s what that meant”.
