At this weekend’s Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, WA, a stage barrier collapsed. The accident resulted in four people being hospitalized and dozens being treated at the festival. According to CNN, During electronic artist Jai Wolf’s set Saturday night, the barricade at the Fischer Stage collapsed and fell onto concert-goers at the festival.
First responders received a call to the Seattle Center just outside of Downtown Seattle for an “aid call.” Ultimately, 25 people were evaluated and four were taken to the Harborview Medical Center. Luckily, they were all listed in stable conditions.
Seattle Times reports that event promoter AEG and Seattle Center released a joint statement: “Safety is our top priority at Bumbershoot, and we have been working closely with police, medics, and security to ensure tonight is a great evening for fans.”
The festival left their own message. “Saturday night at Bumbershoot Festival there was steel barricade failure that resulted in several non-life threatening injuries. Those injured were (handled) by on-site medical teams and further treatment continued at an area hospital as deemed necessary. We are monitoring the situation and will update as we get more information.”
Jai Wolf’s set was moved to Sunday. He performed at 6:55 PST today.
