Big news for fans of the Los Angeles-based rock group, Tool. Victims of countless internet memes poking fun at the band’s decade-long drought of new music can finally come to an end. Fear Inoculum is the fifth studio album released by Tool, and it only took them 13 years and couple of death threats. But the good news doesn’t stop there, on top of announcing their new album, the band has also announced that they will be embarking on a 26-stop North American tour that will start in Sacramento, California at the Aftershock Music Festival. Tool will also be joined on the tour by fellow rock band, Killing Joke, and will be performing music from their new album, Fear Inoculum.
But not only do fans get a taste of new music, but they can also now fill themselves up with as much music from Tool as they’d like. For many years the only way someone could access music from the band is if they purchased a physical CD when it was released, or they would have to illegally pirate music online. This was one of the biggest complaints from the fans to the band, that is until just recently. The band has finally released their entire back catalog of music to all streaming services giving fans unlimited access to their favorite collections of Tool music. This includes their entire discography most notably their 1991 demo tape, 92826.
Fans of the band are no strangers to being teased with the promise of new music, earlier this year Tool changed all their logos to incorporate the year “2019” leaving fans wondering if this was the year they would finally hear new music. On top of changing all their logos, the band also released teaser video to their 30-minute song “Sounds of Night Crickets,” which many fans assumed was a new album. But not to the surprise of many, the band had just trolled their entire fan base and sent them to a link that was just 30 minutes of crickets chirping. But after all, that teasing and trolling, the band finally live debuted two new songs, “Invincible” and “Descending,” from their new Fear Inoculum album. Although the wait for this band’s album has been endlessly long, the day has finally come for fans to rejoice with new music, a new tour, and their collection of Tool’s discography on their favorite music streaming services.
UPDATE (11/12): Tool have extended their tour dates into 2020, with shows in Southrn California, the Southwest, Texas and the Southeast. As is, the tour will conclude on February 1 in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center.
