In a surprise announcement, Kim Kardashian-West has teased a brand new album that will be released by her husband Kanye Weston September 27th. The project, which Kardashian-West announced via Twitter, is set to be titled Jesus is King. Based on the album title and the track list that was shared alongside it, it seems that West is embracing a gospel theme for this new project. Fans of West will be unsurprised by this theme, as the rapper and producer has spent much of his time the past few months working on his Sunday Service series of performances. These performances, which West did an edition of at Coachella this year, are held on Sundays and are a mix of West’s music and classic gospel songs sung by a live choir. At his Coachella performance, West premiered one of the songs shown featured on the track list; a song titled “Water.” With many of these concerts over the course of the year, West has already given fans a big taste of what to expect from this brand new album.

West has also been involved in various other projects lately, with multiple songs produced by West being released by collaborator and friend Pusha T this week. The tracks, which are titled “Sociopath” and “Coming Home,” were released one after another on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The tracks are the first new songs by Pusha T since his 2018 album Daytona, which was also produced by West and garnered Pusha T a Grammy nomination. Kanye West was also involved this past week in a charity event organized by Dave Chapelle. West was one of many performers at an event aimed to raise money for the victims and survivors of the devastating shooting in Dayton, Ohio recently. The performance was gospel themed as well, keeping in line with West’s current trend.
UPDATE (9/5): According to The Fader, Kanye West has posted the same photo of the tracklisting for Jesus Is King to his website. This seems to further confirm that Jesus Is King will be the ninth studio album by Kanye West and the follow up to 2018’s Wyoming Sessions mini-album, Ye. Previously, West had announced and then delayed the release of Yandhi in 2018. That record still shows no signs of release, though some songs were recently leaked online.
